Christchurch's Permanent Commemoration of the Coronation of HM Queen Elizabeth II
H&S Information for operational and maintenance purposes and for works proposed or in progress is available here.
The hall has dimensions of approx 7.3 x 14.9 m (24 x 49 feet).
The vaulted ceiling rises from a height of 2.5m to 3m in the centre.
The space is brightly-lit with an alternative choice of more subdued lighting.
Power sockets are available all around the walls.
Access to Druitt Hall's wi-fi is included.
A CO2 monitor provides guidance on ventilation of the hall. An extractor fan is provided to assist with this.
Heating is by high-level electric radiant panels that heat the space quickly.
The restored parquet flooring is great for all sorts of activities!
The windows have been restored to their original working condition.
A publicly-accessible defibrillator is provided in an exterior
cabinet on the front of the building (see below).
Entry to the hall is through the double front doors (via a low step) while
level access is provided via a power-operated door facing onto Druitt Gardens (picture below).
This new entrance and the formation of the accessible toilet facility is
one of the many improvements carried out by DHCA.
The large entrance lobby gives access to the modern Male and Female toilets
plus a fully-compliant accessible WC.
The lobby opens via double doors onto the main hall.
Rear double-doors from the hall face onto Druitt Gardens
and can be opened for ventilation and level access to avoid passing through the lobby.
The hall has both efficient, bright-white LED lighting (ideal for activities and crafts)
AND a subdued lighting option for more relaxed occasions.
Hire of the hall includes use of the kitchen (details below), 21 assorted-size
tables (3ft to 6ft),
further folding 'picnic' tables, and 70 cushioned folding chairs.
The room was re-formed and fitted with new units and appliances as celebrated as part of the Christchurch Food Festival in May 2015.
The room dimensions are approx 3 x 4.8 m (10 x 16 feet).
There are two built-in ovens, a 900 mm (3 ft) radiant-electric hob, refrigerator, microwave oven,
auto-fill (beverage) hot water dispenser, pump-action hot water dispensers, cutlery and crockery.
The kitchen has a serving hatch opening into the hall.
It has a hygiene rating of '5' and can cope with events whose needs range from making and
dispensing drinks to preparing and serving cooked meals.
The serving hatch opens directly into the main hall.
(Cakes by Dorset Made Food - delicious - try them on a Monday morning!)
The original 1950's facilities have been completely revamped by DHCA with all new fittins and increased capacity.
We have tried to retain the "50's ambience" while providing modern fitments, flooring, driers, fans etc
There are separate Male and Female toilets PLUS a DDA-compliant accessible WC,
added by DHCA with the assistance of grant-funding from Dorset Community Foundation.
Use of these facilities is included in the hire of the hall (on a shared basis with any hirer of the meetingg room).
Here is the 2016 video filmed by Nigel Cook in support of our (successful) bid for an extended lease.
Thanks to a private sponsor the hall boasts a defibrillator housed in a secure case on the front wall.
It is availabe for use by anyone and is registered on the national service 'The Circuit'.
If you need to use it, call 999 and the ambulance service will provide the code for the keylock.
The paramedic on the phone will of course give guidance but the machine will also give spoken instructions!.
The machine will tell you which pads are fitted - eg it will announce "Adult Pads".
If treating a child (of 0 to 8 years) then different pads will have to be fitted (these are provided in the defibrillator bag).
Information about this defibrillator can be found here.
